Parkanaur Residential Care, Dungannon

In December 2024, Consarc Conservation was appointed as Conservation Architect to develop proposals for the refurbishment of the Parkanaur Courtyard buildings – the Stable Block, Coach House, and Gate Lodge – and to prepare and submit Planning and Listed Building Consent applications on behalf of the Parkanaur Trust. Consarc has a long-standing relationship with the Trust, having previously carried out condition surveys and feasibility studies, which have informed the current proposals and ensured a design rooted in a detailed understanding of the site’s history and fabric.

The project will see the Stable Block and Coach House sensitively converted into supported living apartments, complementing the care facilities already provided at Parkanaur Manor House. The Gate Lodge will be refurbished into a three-bedroom home, completing previously unfinished work. The proposals focus on preserving the historic character of the listed buildings while adapting them for modern, accessible living. Works will include traditional-material restoration, improved accessibility through lifts and ramps, new staircases, and structural repairs to support long-term use. Internal layouts will be reconfigured to retain as much original fabric as possible while meeting fire safety and contemporary living standards. These plans will bring important historic buildings back into active use, enhancing the provision of high-quality supported residential care across the Parkanaur Estate.
