Warrenpoint Municipal Park

Consarc Design Group led the restoration of Warrenpoint Municipal Park, an Edwardian green space first opened in 1906. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and delivered in partnership with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, the project involved ongoing consultation with councillors, council staff and community groups. Consarc acted as contract administrators and carried out regular site inspections throughout the works.

At the heart of the project was the careful restoration of the Grade B+ listed bandstand, installed in 1907 and considered one of Northern Ireland’s best-preserved examples. Other historic structures, including the pavilion, toilet block and attendants’ office, were also repaired and upgraded. The park’s mature trees and historic layout were protected, while modern features such as improved visitor facilities and enhanced play areas were introduced to support access and public use. All interventions were guided by a Conservation Management Plan, helping to maintain the park’s historic character while ensuring it continues to serve the needs of the local community.
