A New Chapter Steps from St Paul’s

Just 150 metres from St Paul’s Cathedral, the Lost Property Hotel is part of Hilton’s Curio Collection and offers 150 guest rooms in a central, historically significant part of London. The project involved demolishing the late-Victorian office building known as Creed Court, while carefully retaining part of the original Ludgate Hill façade and integrating it into the new design. The new structure has two basement levels and six storeys above ground, with facilities including a ground floor bar and restaurant, guest gym, and a landscaped internal courtyard that serves both hotel guests and neighbouring properties. The architectural approach combines traditional and contemporary materials, pairing the restored façade with precast brick and stone panels, curtain walling, and mansard roofs to create a building that sits comfortably in its historic setting.

The double-level basement excavation used a mix of existing retaining walls and temporary works. This required careful coordination to work around the façade retention system and manage construction on a compact site in a busy urban location. The completed hotel enhances the streetscape while maintaining a connection to the site’s architectural heritage. Lost Property adds valuable hospitality facilities to the area and reflects a balance between modern design quality and respect for local character. The project team delivered a complex build in a challenging location, maintaining structural integrity and design intent from concept to completion.
