The Ewart, Bedford Square, Belfast
The Ewart is a landmark commercial development that brings together Belfast’s architectural heritage and contemporary Grade A office design. Located within the city’s business district, the 210,000 sq ft scheme completes the wider Bedford Square regeneration, following the delivery of the Invest NI Headquarters.
Originally constructed in 1870 as a warehouse, the Grade B+ listed building has been carefully restored, retaining its distinctive stone façade and copper domes. Rising behind it, a striking 17-storey glass and steel tower integrates confidently with the historic structure, creating a cohesive and contemporary addition to the skyline. Consarc acted as both Delivery Architect and Conservation Architect, guiding the sensitive restoration of the listed fabric alongside the integration of the new-build element.
Standing over 69 metres high, The Ewart offers panoramic city views and has achieved BREEAM Excellent certification. The development incorporates rooftop solar panels, a green energy tariff, zero waste to landfill, secure cycle storage, high-speed lifts and advanced building systems, alongside flexible floorplates and premium finishes.
Positioned close to City Hall and key transport connections, The Ewart sets a benchmark for sustainable regeneration respecting the past while delivering a high-performance workplace for modern business.
