Courthouse and Fort, Hillsborough

Consarc has been appointed to lead the restoration and revitalisation of Hillsborough Courthouse and Hillsborough Fort as part of the City Deal programme. At the Courthouse, the project will sensitively repair and enhance the Grade B listed building, adapting its principal spaces to create a flexible civic venue capable of hosting events, education and community activities while celebrating its 18th- and 19th-century character.

At the Fort, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, works will focus on essential repairs, improved accessibility and the enhancement of the Gothic gatehouse and ramparts. The aim is to transform the site into a compelling heritage destination, strengthening its connection to the Square, Castle and surrounding landscape. Together, the projects will safeguard and re-energise two of Hillsborough’s most significant historic landmarks, ensuring their sustainable use for generations.
