Scape Student Accommodation, Hammersmith

This purpose-built student accommodation scheme delivers 713 high-quality en-suite rooms in two towers of 17 and 12 storeys. Located in the heart of Hammersmith, the development plays a key role in meeting the growing demand for student housing in London. The building offers a variety of amenity spaces including landscaped courtyards, study and seminar rooms, communal lounges, a gym, and cycle storage. These facilities have been designed to support both academic focus and social interaction, helping to foster a strong student community within the development.

The design approach balances height and density with materials and detailing that respond to the surrounding urban fabric. The use of brick, terracotta, and metal elements gives the scheme a distinct identity while integrating it sensitively into its context. Constructed using a reinforced concrete frame and prefabricated bathroom pods, the project achieved high levels of efficiency, quality, and sustainability. Its delivery on a constrained site, adjacent to a live railway and above a major sewer, required ongoing coordination with key stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption and maintain progress. Completed ahead of programme, this student accommodation sets a new benchmark for housing in the area, combining affordability, quality, and accessibility in a well-connected London location.
