Castle Leslie, Co. Monaghan

Consarc has worked with the Castle Leslie Estate for over 20 years, supporting its evolution into one of Ireland’s most atmospheric country house hotels and equestrian centres. The estate includes numerous protected buildings and a lively village setting in Glaslough. The projects have focused on revitalising underused or derelict structures through sensitive restoration and adaptive reuse, and also introducing new housing that complements the village’s traditional style and character. Key works include restoring and extending The Lodge to create new hotel rooms, restaurants, a bar, and spa facilities; building a modern equestrian centre with 60 stables and an arena; and converting the former stableyard into self-catering apartments and event spaces. Within the main castle, upgrades discreetly modernised services, concealed cabling and pipework, enhanced interiors to meet fire regulations, and introduced new decorative schemes for principal rooms.

The estate masterplan allowed phased construction, minimising disruption and keeping hotel operations running smoothly. Consarc’s approach combined close collaboration with management, careful construction planning, and high-quality design, preserving the estate’s historic character while supporting its ongoing evolution as a premier visitor destination. The result ensures Castle Leslie remains a distinctive and cherished landmark in Ireland’s hospitality landscape.
